The movie "Slice" tops the list of all Thai movies for the Subhanahongsa awards. It is a gritty and bloddy thriller about a serial killer that has caught not only the attention of Thai viewers but has also received good reviews abroad. Slice is starring tenie star Arak Amornsupasiri and is nominated in an astonishing 14 out of 16 categries!

Another movie that was nominated a lot is Pen-Ek's "Nymph" in which Gybzy of irly Berry made her film debut (and surprisingly it wasn't too bad). Nymph is nominated in 7 categories.

I applaude that Nynmph and Slice got so much props in the nominations as especially Nymph is not really the type of movie that has much commercal success in Thailand but is the type of movie that can bring Thai cinema away from all the cheezy romances and look-a-like comedies. It's something completely different, executed very well.

But there is also a dark side of the nominations ...such as that "Best of Time" was nominated in 6 categories. Best of Times is really nothing special. A standard romantic comedy with 2 teenie stars in the lead roles to attract people. How can it get nominated in 6 categories? No idea.
