Two British birds set off from Bangkok's UK Embassy on Sunday in a hot pink tuk-tuk. Destination: Brighton, South England.

The 19,000-km journey is expected to take three months and span 12 countries. Jo Huxster and Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent made their motorised rickshaws safer with raised suspension and roll bars, reported media.

The childhood friends are raising funds for an English mental health charity called Mind. They have raised more than THB 1.1 million so far and are looking to gather a further THB 2.4 million for the cause.

“I feel very passionate about supporting [Mind] because I suffered from depression in my adolescence, and I was helped by Mind when I was unwell,” said the 27-year-old Huxter, a recent psychology graduate who will start medical school later ins the year.
