Thailand's new Prime Minister, Samak Sundaravej, has stressed that one of his government's most urgent tasks is to improve Thailand's mass transit rail system.
Plans to construct a nationwide dual railway track system were put on hold for almost two years after Thailand's latest military coup, but are now being revived. Samak added that Bangkok’s Skytrain service is to be expanded in three directions, each route spanning about 30 kilometres.
