Action will be taken against the producers of fish balls made from toxic puffer fish which have sickened about 300 villagers in Nan province.
Public Health Minister Chaiya Sasomsup said villagers in Ban Luang district reported numb tongues, breathing difficulty and diarrhoea after eating fish balls in a soup offered during a funeral on Friday. Ninety were sent for treatment at local hospitals.
The minister warns that the makers of the toxic fish balls could have their factories closed and could face two years in jail and a fine of THB 20,000.
