Ousted prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been given back his diplomatic passport, and a date for his return from exile is likely to be announced tomorrow.
Noppadon Pattama, the foreign minister, and previously Thaksin’s personal lawyer, said his ministry had returned the travel document more than a week ago.
"Every former prime minister should be treated equally and as foreign minister, I am here to ensure that," he told reporters.
Noppadon said the ex-premier plans to divide his time between Thailand and Britain, so that he can take care of his football club, Manchester City.
