It may not seem possible, but major Thai beer producer, Singha Corporation has announced plummetting beer sales, citing the economic slowdown and political uncertainties as major reasons Thais are steering clear of the amber ale, said the company's Advertising Manager Piti Pirompakdi. He added low-cost beer are suffering the worst sales, which is worrying considering cheap beer makes up 70% of market. Piti said beer sales usually slump during the Buddhis Lent period anyway. Singha doubt any growth will be recorded for this quarter, however the company still plan to grow by 92 billion baht for the year. Meanwhile, Singha is expecting fierce competition over beer sales and is planning to implement aggressive marketing strategies to boost sales, said the company executive. Other beer companies are lowering retail prices, but Singha has no plans to drop beer prices. It's a damn shame.
