Thailand today banned smoking in all air-conditioned bars, pubs, discos and clubs throughout the kingdom. The law previously exempted nightclubs and bars from a smoking ban which was introduced in 2002.
Health advocates welcomed the new law as a milestone for tobacco control, but critics argued that the ban would be impossible to enforce.
