A quarterly Thai political magazine has been ordered to stop distribution of their Oct-Dec 2005 issue after receiving a notice from the Interior Ministry, the Bangkok Post reported.

Publisher and editor of Fah Diew Kan (Under the Same Sky), Thanapol Eawsakul, received a directive signed by national police chief Pol Gen Kowit Wattana on Thursday banning him from disseminating the magazine and stating police will seize existing copies.

Thanapol says he will appeal the order, adding that it failed to mention details of the charge and that he was given no opportunity to defend his case.

The edition in question contains articles and comments on the monarchy and Thai society by leading academics, among them social critic Sulak Sivaraksa. The Interior Ministry's notice claims the content has prompted turmoil and acts against Thai morals.

The order was issued just after leaders of the Caravan of the Poor read the articles to thousands of pro-Thaksin farmers gathered at Chatuchak park.

Thanapol said he would lodge a petition with the Administrative Court and file criminal and civil suits against related agencies.

He promised to publish 6,000 additional copies of the Oct-Dec 2005 issue after the oirginal 6,000 copies sold out.
