A UK survey has revealed that Thailand tops the list for travelers suffering road accidents, theft and food poisoning than any other country. The Czech Republic won out for pickpockets. Violent robberies and lost luggage in transit were claimed the most in South Africa, while insect bites and stings were most common in the Caribbean.

The Thai government is insistent that the country's largest international airport, the all-new Suvarnabhumi Airport, will open as scheduled on September 28, 2006. Caretaker Prime Minister Thaksin met with government agencies overseeing the construction of the new airport for a progress report, said Government Spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee.

To mark the 60th anniversary of King Bhumibol Adulyadej's coronotion, HM the king has officially pardoned the first Australian convicted of child sex offences in Thailand on good behaviour. Forty-six-year-old Bradley Pendragon was released from Bangkok's Klong Prem prison Friday after serving about a decade of his 15-year sentence for raping and beating minors.

The days of the Suan Lum Night Bazaar on Rama IV are numbered... until the end of April 2007 to be exact. This is the date vendors are to vacate premises if they want to avoid legal action by the Crown Property Bureau (CPB). The land spanning 120 rais was developed into the Night Bazaar by P Con Development (Thai), and their lease with the CPB expired on March 31, 2006.

Two British birds set off from Bangkok's UK Embassy on Sunday in a hot pink tuk-tuk. Destination: Brighton, South England. The 19,000-km journey is expected to take three months and span 12 countries. Jo Huxster and Antonia Bolingbroke-Kent made their motorised rickshaws safer with raised suspension and roll bars, reported media.

Thailand's south has been rocked again by violence after at least seven people were killed from bombings and shootings in Yala province, police said. One bomb attack killed five secrutiy officers as they were escorting teachers on their way to school early Tuesday morning. The explosion killed one Buddhist soldier, while four volunteering Muslim officers were shot in the head at point blank range by waiting rebels, police Colonel Jirasak Wikraicharoenying.

A Koh Samui bar owner has been found with 31 condoms of heroin inside his stomach, reported police Maj. Wacharawong Praiphan. The drugs were found after Pascal Maurice Pittet, 53, admitted himself into hospital complaining of sever abdominal pains, which had become unbearable over the weekend, said his doctor, Dulyakit Witthayachanyaphong.

With Thailand's entertainment industry figures urging the government to crack down further on piracy, it could spell the end of a golden era of cheap 100 THB CDs on Kao San...but we don't think so. Filmmakers, directors and celebrities gathered at Government House on Tuesday to voice their anger over the government's "insufficient" suppression of pirated materials, saying the industry is being severely affected by the sale of fake CDs.

A number of Pakistani filmmakers are packing up post-production business in Bangkok and heading to Mumbai "...because the price there is 50 percent less than that of Bangkok," said controversial producer Mubashir Luqman. And Luqman is leaving controversy in his wake. One Bangkok laboratory, Technicolor (Thailand),is refusing to do anymore business with Pakistani producers after Luqman left behind unpaid bills and contractual disputes in his move to India.
