New species of Gecko uncovered
Wednesday, 12 September 2007
The forest of Chiang Dao in Thailand’s northern province of Chiang Mai is home to a newly discovered species of gecko and skink.

Four brown skinks with scales on their heads, five-cm long bodies and six-cm long tails were found.

Officials expressed concern that the newly-discovered animals would be at risk of extinction due to regular wildfires in the northern forest.
