"Ice" has become a favourite English nickname for Thai kids, according to Culture Minister Khunying Khaisri Sriaroon.
Other popular English names are "May" and "Fluke" while "Ploy", "Nam" and "Sai" are the top Thai nicknames.
7,244 children were surveyed by The Trat Cultural Office. 53 per cent of them had English nicknames and 44 per cent Thai nicknames. About 1 per cent each had Korean, Japanese, Chinese or Arabic nicknames.
