A UK survey has revealed that Thailand tops the list for travelers suffering road accidents, theft and food poisoning than any other country. The Czech Republic won out for pickpockets. Violent robberies and lost luggage in transit were claimed the most in South Africa, while insect bites and stings were most common in the Caribbean. The results, based on more than 60,000 claims made to Norwich Union Travel Insurance last year, found that Ireland, Belgium, Holland, Germany and France were the safest travel destinations in that order. "The purpose of our research is not to worry tourists looking forward to their summer holidays, just to make them aware of what can go wrong when they're away from home," a representative from Norwich Union said.
