After remaining seated during the royal anthem at the Central World movie theatre, a Thai man and his female friend are facing charges of lèse majesté.
The lawyer for Chotisak Onsung, 26, and his friend, Songkran Pongbunjan, said that a police committee had taken opinions from individuals and academics and decided to proceed with the case. The penalty for a lèse majesté offence is 3-15 years' imprisonment.
