Bomb explodes in Bangkok

Monday, 01 October 2007
A bomb exploded in next to Bangkok's Army Survey Department on Sunday night, injuring two ordnance disposal officers who were trying to disarm it at the time.

The explosive was left in a black cardboard box at a phone booth in front of a small soi just off Rajdamnoen Avenue.  After the explosion, another box was found 50 metres away.

So far, nobody has claimed responsibility for the bomb which detonated hours before Gen Anupong Paochinda was set to replace army chief and coup leader Sonthi Boonyaratkalin.
