The ground-breaking $100 laptop project, the brainchild of the World Economic Forum's Nicholas Negroponte, is being trailed in Thailand and other developing nations, reported the Bangkok Post. The kingdom along with Egypt, Nigeria, India, China, Brazil and Argentina are the recipients of the the first budget laptops for under-privilieged school children for the "One laptop per Child" (olpc) initiative. Recently, 15 prototypes of the orange-coloured plastic computers were presented, with 500 distributed in the trial countries. The olpc have said that the laptops will not be available on the market and will be issued to non-profit organisations.
