Do people in Thailand drink too much? DJ Octo - DJ, graphic designer, bar owner Age: 31 According to the statistics; yes! I was quite amazed to find that Thailand's the third largest consumer of alcohol in the world. I guess it's all done in the name of 'Sanook', and being a fan of drinking myself I say 'crack-on'. Just try and avoid the 'drink-drive' combo, or 'drink-beat-up-the-wife' combo.
Oh - Futon bass player, stylist Age: 26 Been in Bangkok since: Birth Describe yourself in five words or less: I am something else. It depends on the person not the nationality.
Misty - Former Editor POP magazine Age: Ask me again when I'm drunk Been in Bangkok since: I was born Describe yourself in five words or less: Beautiful, smart, fun, sexy and...vain Definitely. Totally. Naturally Thais just love to have fun and you just won't find a nationality who is as good at using lame excuses to drink. In the recent poll, Thailand has finally made it to the top 10 countries to consume the most alcohol. I swear next year we're gonna beat those Irish bastards.
Jennifer Gampell - Freelance writer for international newspapers and magazines Age: Supposedly I can lie about this so I am Been in Bangkok since: 1993 Describe yourself in five words or less: Eclectic, eccentric, stylish, intense, "jai rawn".
"Too much" is too subjective.
Note - writer, graphic designer Age: 25 Been in Bangkok since: 2000 Describe yourself in five words or less: Happy! Yes, this might be because we seem to have too much time. Take those old Thai country songs for example, many of them talk a lot about finishing up the day on the farm to get together to sing and drink. I don't think the new law to restrict selling times will change anything.
