Mo: I think lol has an issue with the word 'trendy'. This word is not a positive term in the west. To be called 'trendy' is to say you follow the crowd, you haven't got any individuality. Here it's applied to anything and everything in a futile attempt to make things look 'cool'. In my opinion, the word 'trendy' (and perhaps 'hip') epitomizes the often cringeworthy Thai marketing you see all over Bangkok.
Out of interest, what's trendy in Thai? Maybe it's a case of lost in translation. -

You talk about David Bowie... a man who had real style - and it came naturally. I don't think he'd like to be compared to these victims.
Not like these nu rave/electrotrash try hards - a bunch of kids who think they are too cool for school.
As for 'NU RAVE'; I'm pretty sure the people who originated the original rave scene would have a big (love)ing laugh at this nonsense.
Do your thing - but know your place... you are trying desperatley hard to be cool and that kind of defies the point, no? -

Will: This "Nu-Rave" movement makes me laugh, and especially Klaxons. It has all been hyped up by the NME. Or we all know the NME comes up with a UK rock'n'roll savior every week.
I must admit though that this new "electro-rock" scene is the most exciting at the moment. It feels like anything can happen and finally injects some fresh air to the genre.
And it's good to see Supersub back in town for a party, it was about time.
But please, please, please, leave your glowsticks at home. It's the silliest thing ever. If it's done like that in the UK, it doesn't have necessarly to be the same everywhere else. -

Dave: As someone who grew up on a staple diet of early rave music (acid house thru hardcore thru jungle) this whole nu rave thing is ridiculous. Sure people should have fun with music - but turning it into comedy (remember John B? lord have mercy) is just too much.
I understand these kids who are doing this party here probably dont know any better, I imagine they read mixmag or some other garbage and thought this was the cool thing in the UK right now...It's very faddy (perhaps trendy is the right word lol!) and is generally for rich kids who crave some sense of identity.
I'm not fussed because when it comes to dance/club music, fads come and go - but the real music is always there. -

Actually I used to be a rave party's dj before and I'm just thiking about the scene now. this is better 10 times than before (90's trance, techno)
but only 1 thing would make it worst is all the haters who's just have a computer and using it to kill the time, talking shit to everyone they don't like or sometimes make a new disscussion about a shit thing in their head out!!!!
Please be a man and stop all this shit!!! you know we can trace your i.p. address and we will come to your place and kick your ass everytime if we wanted to do but we won't!!!! coz we are just wanna have fun with our dj's life!!!! Don't waste your time to make some other look bad (or make fun of them)
