Most Thai people oppose Prime Minister Samak Sundaravej's plan to open casinos, according to a nationwide Abac Poll.
56.4 per cent of respondents opposed casinos, while just 31.9 per cent approved, even if they could attract foreign tourists and generate revenue to offset the budget deficit.
However, 55.3 per cent of respondents said gambling was a normal thing, and 35 per cent admitted gambling before.
