Poorly lit taxiways and runways at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport are failing safety standards, according to news reports. With nearly a third of the 7,600 light bulbs that light Suvarnabhumi's runways dysfunctional, Airports of Thailand (AoT) President Chana U-sathaporn has sought government approval to speed up the procurement of 2,000 new light bulbs. International standards require that at least 90 per cent of an airport's lights be functional.
