Counting global popularity of DJ´s, Tiësto is one of the very top ones. He is so hugely popular, that he won the DJ Mag World´s Top No. 1 for 3 times already. Word has it that he played to close to 2 million people only in the past year.

Marco Bailey @ Club Culture Review

Sunday, 10 February 2008

Image

Belgian national Marco Bailey is one of the big names in the international techno scene - and that not as a newcomer. Marco started DJ'ing and producing over 15 years ago which was noticed by Carl Cox. He signed Marco to Intec Rec. and the story began.

Since then Marco has produced many floorfillers and a number of album. His tracks get regulary played by Sven Väth, Adam Beyer, Chris Liebing and so on...

Marco made his first appearance in Bangkok at Astra - what turned up to be a fantastic night. This weekend at Club Culture he still put one on top. He played a ground deep techno set which got the full dancefloor to dance almost immediately. Nasty basslines mixed with a refreshing mix of Marco Bailey sound - well done!

Playground Festival 2008 Indonesia

Tuesday, 05 February 2008
Playground Festival 2008Asia has been booming as a as a location for large scale music festivals. We recently have been to Zoukout in Singapore, Recharge Revelation Global Gathering in Malaysia and we have seen the very first of its kind in Bangkok, the Culture ONE festival.

On the 23rd of February, Indonesia will be host to one of the largest open-air festivals with a world class lineup of artists from all kinds of areas. Playground festival 2008 follows the first Playground held in 2006 where already 6000 clubbers partied in Jakarta’s Taman Ria Senayan Complex and made it one of the best parties of the year. This time, the location is changed to Carnaval Beach, Ancol Bay City which has more space as even more people are expected this year. Besides, what could be better than a party at the beach you ask?

All roads led to RCA on Friday night. The much awaited opening of Club 808 is now official.
With its chic and spacious party ambience, aerial DJ booth, extensive sound system, 808 offers a unique experience for Bangkok's premier party-goers. It was a great night, with the party kicking off earlier for 808 guests and the press with an offering of a full open bar and a generous buffet of finger foods. The eager crowd started flooding in at 11, with DJ Tittsworth hitting the decks with diverse sets that range from club rock, techno, drum and base and yes, even hiphop.

Angelini Restaurant & Bar Opening

Saturday, 26 January 2008

DJ Oum at AngeliniThursday this week, we visited the opening party of the new Angelini Restaurant and Bar at the Shangri-La Hotel who were kind enough to invite us. For this occasion, the hotel managment imported House DJ/Producer Ian Pooley from Germany. Besides that, DJs Oum and Ek graced the decks so from the music side, everything was perfectly set up.

Angelini was renoavted for about 2.5 million US dollars! as we were told and it shows: The design is modern and with the high ceilings it really has a majestic look and is beautifully designed. Food and drinks, as expected, were excellent an providing this all for free for most of the night can only be called very generous. For a special night out, this is a great new choice but also for lunch time there are enough reasonable choices available.

To top it off, Angelini now also features a beautiful lounge area outside by the pool. Here you can lounge on comfy sofas and enjoy the tranquil atmosphere by the river while you can sample a drink from the large cocktail menu. Perfect for starting out the night! See below for more pictures .

Reggae in Thailand: Reggae & Dancehall on Koh Chang

Wednesday, 05 December 2007

Koh Chang OceanLiving in Bangkok is perfect one might think. You have all the thrills of a big metropolis and it just takes 2 hours to be at a beautiful beach, perfect for a weekend get-away. Well, to be honest, in the past 2 years I have made it 2 times to the beach for maybe 2 days. That's it! And I know I'm not the only one with this problem. Well, Bangkok is not the worst place to be stucked but events such as "Reggae in Thailand" are a welcome change.

Koh Chang is easy to reach either by bus or now even by plane in under an hour. On the 8th and 9th of December, you'll be in reggae heaven at the Jungle Bar at Lonely Beach. Jun & Ma are both veteran Japanese DJs and they will be supported by MC Trix from California who has just recently released his new music video. They will present well selected reggae & dancehall music. Don't forget that the 10th is a holiday in Thailand so this is probably the most fun way to spend Constitution Day. Also, it might be a good idea to arrange accommodation in advance as many people will be traveling on a long weekend like this.

By the way: There is also a monthly Reggae event at Breaks Club on Silom Soi 2 every second Friday of each month. So the next party will be on the 14th of December. Go check it out.
