Baan Klang Nam Seafood River Restaurant

Baan Klang Nam is located on Rama III road right next to the river. It is a seafood restaurant that is frequented both by some foreigners and Thais. It is not a tourist only place, more of a mixed nature. As Baan Klang Nam is off the beaten track it has a very relaxed feel to it, next to the river you won;t notice anymore that you are in a huge city such as Bangkok.

Upon entering the restaurant you are greeted by a small monkey (no idea what type it actually is) that is normally climbing around on his small tree. There is other animals in cages in the front....nothing really to do with the food but a nice attraction anyways and good for taking a picture.

The food at Baan Klang Nam includes your standard fare such as Tom Yam soup or several types of fish but there is also more special and fancy stuff such as lobster and crab on the menu. We tried the Ostrich with pepper sauce (so there is not only seafood available as you can see), large scallops (see picture, they cost 50 Baht per piece), pepper crab, prawns with glass noodles and chilli squid.

All was good although I was not a big fan of the scallops...but that doesn't mean they weren't good. I just didn't like the taste much. All other dishes were excellent. My favorite thing was the black pepper crab. The crabs served here are larger than normal. The pepper sauce was delicious.

Baan Klang Nam has a cocktail menu and also serves decent red and white wine. This restaurant is great for taking somebody out for a chilled out (or romantic if you want) evening at the river. Especially now in April, you will appreciate the cool breeze here. Recommended.
